Just heard Pearl Jam's new single, "I Am Mine". Not
only is this flaming bag of poo a blatant rip-off of Stappy's writing style, it
also features some interesting lines (emphasis and commentary inserted inline).
Compare this song to "Hide" by Creed if you have ANY doubts, but this song
borrows from the Creed library on a LOT of levels:
The selfish they’re all standing in line...
"I feel forces all around
me..."
"the mouths of envious
always find an open door"
Faith in their hope and to buy
themselves time.
"take all this pride and
leave it behind, 'cause one day it ends, one day we
die..."
Me, I figure as each breath goes by,
I only own
my mind.
"whatever life brings, I've been
through everything..."
The north is to south what the
clock is to time.
(clock imagery runs rampant in Creed's
artwork)
There's east and there's west and there everywhere life.
(possible reference to the Human Clay cover and subsequent
mysteries involving the crossroads in the artwork)
I know that I was born and I know that I’ll die.
'cause one day it ends, one day we
die..."
The in between is mine. I am mine.
"for we have crossed many oceans and have labored inbetween / in life
there are many quotients and I hope I find the mean..."
And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with
time...
We're different behind the eyes, there’s no need to
hide.
(need I even state the obvious
here?)
We're safe tonight.
(...from the threat of originality. I'm
spent. Read on if you wish. I have no further comment)
The
ocean is full cause everyone's crying,
The full moon is looking for friends
at high tide.
The sorrow grows bigger when the sorrows denied.
I only
know my mind. I am mine.
And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh
the innocence broken with time.
We're different between the lines,
there’s no need to hide...
Cause we're safe tonight.
And the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with
time.
We're different behind the eyes, there’s no need to hide.
And
the feeling it gets left behind...
Oh the innocence broken with lies.
We're different behind the eyes.
We're safe tonight.
